Trust: Creating A Safe Place to be Vulnerable!

Trust.  What does it mean to you?  Your team?  Your organization?

There are many ways to look at trust, but in the context of having a connected team, I will phrase it in a simple question:  Do you feel comfortable in being vulnerable to open up to one another?

What are some examples of being vulnerable?

  • Admitting your mistakes;
  • Admitting your weaknesses;
  • Overcoming fear or shame to ask for help;
  • Addressing your concerns without fear of reprisal;
  • Challenging convention e.g. this is the way we’ve always done it;
  • Challenging others to be accountable.

There are many ways to establish, maintain and improve trust on a team, and it all starts with creating a safe environment for people to be vulnerable to take chances.

Your Team CAN handle the Truth!

Once you have a team that trusts one another, then each member can move to truly open communication, where honest conversations can regularly occur that will help to support: customers, team members and each individual!  Trust = Results!
